Supporting rural families through ICPA

As a proud member of the Isolated Children's Parent's Association (ICPA), we strive to connect resources and opportunities for both education and personal growth. Through scholarships and programs, ICPA aim to empower not only the next generation, but to also provide support for their parents.

We are committed to supporting the community of South Australia's rural children and their families through this incredible organisation. And we believe that by making a positive impact on the lives of those in our community, we can all benefit from the outcomes.

A bright future with School of the Air

Sturt Vale Pastoral are closely affiliated with South Australian based private ancillary fund, The Indulkaninna Foundation. The foundation supports (among other things) South Australian rural communities, and our partnership with the foundation underscores our commitment to transforming lives through education.

Together with Indulkaninna, we proudly support the School of the Air program. The children of station Manager, Simon, are active participants in the valuable program which provides remote students with excellent access to quality education.

School of the Air not only provides children from the bush with greater opportunities, it also fosters a sense of community which is invaluable among remote families.

Community spirit

In 1910, Sturt Vale Station stood as the hub for activities that connected people to each other and to resources in South Australia's rural areas. This led to the establishment of the 'Old Koomooloo, Woolgangi and Sturt Vale Athletics Club,' a community club that fostered a sense of unity among people of neighbouring properties.

Today, that spirit of togetherness continues to thrive. Sturt Vale Station remains dedicated to its neighbours and the wider community through events such as the renowned Yunta and Burra Picnic Races, along with the vibrant Yunta Gymkhana, where Station Manager Simon’s son takes part in the competition.

Simon’s wife Katie is a long-time member and player with Burra Booborowie Hallett Netball Club – a club with an extremely active social calendar and strong ties to the BBH Football Club. In collaboration, these clubs encourage family involvement which fosters bonds both on and off-field.
